creativity is a journey...

performance is an adventure...

...and education is an art.

where will the arts take you?

About Arts Detroit

Arts Detroit originally began in 2005 as the Adriane Galea Studio of Voice & Piano and in 2010, made the transition into a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, Center Stage Studios. In 2015, the studio expanded and created three separate umbrella organisations, with Arts Detroit operating as the music and drama education component. We are involved in giving back to the community as often as possible and strive to create a fun, dynamic environment in which to learn and that others can enjoy.

Arts Detroit is proud of our current students and alumni, who have excelled in all areas of the arts. Our students have gone on to study Music/Theatre in some of the top programs in the country and are in or working toward professional careers in the arts. Many of our students have been recipients of the North American Invitational Championship awards in both Broadway and Classical Voice, American Guild of Music All Around winners, received ratings of 1 (the highest ranking) at Michigan Solo and Ensemble and Michigan Thespian Festival competitions, and have won more than one thousand competitive awards and trophies collectively. Beyond that, we are extremely proud of the caliber of staff who have chosen to work at Arts Detroit — teachers who have diverse backgrounds, have performed all over the world, and have studied with the best, but most importantly, who care a great deal about the success of their students and are phenomenal educators.

In addition to having access to top-notch music education, being in the Center Stage family has other perks through our sister organisations. Should you want to go on to study theatre or musical theatre in college, a field which typically only yields a 1-3% acceptance rate in many cases, I started a mentoring program called The MT Project which helps students prepare for what to expect during the college audition process and even provides you with access to master classes and workshops with some of the best college programs. Arts Detroit also houses a professional theatre company, Outvisible, which, while geared primarily toward adult actors, commits to producing at least one show per year with roles for student-aged actors.

If your child is interested in studying with us, but you cannot afford it, we may be able to help.

Who are Arts Detroit’s affiliates?

Arts Detroit is proud to be under the legal umbrella of Center Stage Studios, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation. Center Stage was founded in 2010 with the aim of providing value in performing arts education and developing “triple threats” in music, dance, and acting.

Arts Detroit is proud to house a professional theatre, Outvisible Theatre Company. OTC operates as a small black box theatre and brings shows to life conceptually through minimalist creative design. It is Outvisible’s mission to challenge ideas, inspire creativity, and find the inestimable beauty of life through art.

The MT Project provides a mentoring relationship to high school students who wish to pursue the arts, specifically theatre or musical theatre, at the collegiate level. The college coaching industry has exploded in the wake of theatre degrees becoming extremely sought after by many but only few spots being available. The MT Project hopes to provide an affordable coaching solution to students and provide access to free resources.
