Dance is coming to Arts Detroit this summer!

We are proud to add a dance program to our studio. As we grow and expand, we will be working with the city of Allen Park to offer dance programming at the Allen Park Community Center until we’re moved into a bigger building with a space suitable for dancing.

For now, our dance program is geared toward beginners from toddlers to teens, and as we grow, so will our programming. See below for what we’re offering this summer!

Pre-Ballet I (Ages 3-5)

Pre-Ballet I will focus on an introduction to dance technique and simple movement. The class offers structures to young dancers while allowing enough flexibility to participate in ‘creative movement.’ Students will spend approximately 20 minutes on Ballet and 20 minutes on Tap each week.

Ballet

Classical Ballet is the foundation for all dance. Students will be exposed to several dance techniques with a foundation in healthy practice. Each class will begin with barre warm-ups and stretching, then move into body placement and movement.

Ballet Level I – Ages 7-11

Teen Ballet – Ages 12 & Up

Tap

Tappers will begin with warm-up and a focus on rhythm, floor combinations, and turns.

Tap Level I – Ages 7-11

Teen Tap – Ages 12 & Up

Modern

Modern dance offers a solid foundation for dancers who want to build their technique outside of or in addition to classical ballet through more stylized and less structured movement.

Modern – Ages 7 & Up

Pre-Ballet II (Ages 5-7)

An extension of Pre-Ballet I but with focus on the foundations which will allow students to move into Level I dancing. Young students who have never danced before will fit well into this class and will be moved into Level I when ready. In addition to Ballet and Tap, students will also be introduced to Jazz.

Jazz

Our Jazz classes will focus on classical jazz styles, providing students with a foundation in technique, style, and strength. Each class will begin with warm-ups and stretching, then move into movement which includes jumps, turns, and pirouettes.

Jazz Level I – Ages 7-11

Teen Jazz – Ages 12 & Up

Hip Hop

A fun class for students of all backgrounds and experience! Students will be energized with upbeat music and movement.

Hip Hop Level I – Ages 7-11

Teen Hip Hop – Ages 12 & Up

Musical Theatre

A blend of multiple styles, Musical Theatre dance builds students’ strength across genres to be able to dazzle on stage while garnering a solid technical foundation.

Musical Theatre Dance – Ages 7 & Up
