Adriane Galea

Adriane Galea has been involved with the arts for almost the entirety of her life and likes to think of music as her first language, having started playing the piano at age two. Adriane has been teaching for 18 years and opened her first independent arts studio just over 10 years ago.

Adriane is a professional member of the American Guild of Music, for which she also sits on the Board of Directors and serves as Co-Contest Director and Student Council Adviser, and is a company member of two Detroit-area professional theatres, The AKT Theatre Project and the Slipstream Theatre Initiative. Adriane has performed, directed, and music directed for various local professional and community theatres, and is currently serving as the Executive Director for Arts Detroit’s sister theatre company, the Outvisible Theatre Company.

In addition to the arts, Adriane is a huge advocate for education in general and enjoys being active throughout the Detroit community. Adriane also serves as Co-Chairperson and Youth Board Adviser for An Amazing Woman Foundation, an organisation formed to promote independence and confidence for young women and girls through the arts.

Adriane holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees the University of Michigan.

Scott Anthony Joy

Musical Theatre Instructor

A Sterling Heights native, Scott is happy to be back in his home state after living and working as an actor in New York City. Credits include: Constellations (Outvisible Theatre Company) South Pacific (Paper Mill Playhouse, St. Louis Muny), The Goat or who is Sylvia (St. Louis Actors’ Studio), The Jungle Book (Stages St. Louis), Big River (8th Wonder Productions), Macbeth (St. Louis Rep), Saturday Night Fever (Royal Caribbean), amongst others. He holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from the Webster Conservatory of Theatre Arts. Member of Actors Equity Association. Scott frequently performs concerts with his music partner Jeremy St. Martin.

Karissa Park

Piano Instructor | Email Karissa

Karissa Park started playing piano around age 5 has successfully competed in various American Guild of Music competitions throughout her elementary, middle school, and high school years. Karissa’s main focus is classical piano, and she has been teaching privately for 6 years.

In addition to teaching piano, Karissa has worked in the Summit Academy North School District as a paraprofessional for the past 6 years. She is a firm believer in both academic excellence and expression through the arts and is excited to work with Arts Detroit in fostering the love of music in all ages.

Karissa is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Microbiology from University of Michigan Dearborn and afterwards plans on pursuing her Masters in Genetic Counseling.


Lizz Piskor

Dance Instructor

Lizz Piskor is a local dancer, choreographer, and graduate of Wayne State University, having completed her Bachelor’s of Science in Dance and a K-12 Teaching Certificate in Dance Education. She specializes in modern and postmodern dance techniques, including improvisational methods and experimental choreography; and teaches dance from a critical feminist perspective. Lizz has always been passionate about the arts, starting her dance training at just three years old, and is constantly exploring new mediums with which to express her creativity and satisfy her artistry. In her pursuit of diverse artistic experiences, Lizz has studied a wide variety of dance styles throughout the years, including ballet, contemporary, jazz, tap, hip hop, Hawaiian, Ethio-modern, Congolese African, and traditional Irish step dance. Healthy movement is essential in Lizz’s movement practice, promoting longevity in the dance careers of her and her students, encouraging her to supplement her dancing with training as a STOTT Pilates Mat Instructor. Lizz has worked with numerous dance artists from around the world, such as: Lisa LaMarre, Adesola Akinleye, Karen Prall, Eva Powers, and Nick Cave.

Kirsten Sparks

Vocal and Acting Instructor | Email Kirsten

Kirsten Sparks is originally from Grosse Ile, MI. She majored in Musical Theater at The American Musical and Dramatics Academy in New York. Kirsten has studied voice since she was five years old, as well as dance.

Kirsten most recently joins us from the wide open sea! For the last four years, she performed as a Production Show Vocalist on several Cruise Ships.

Prior to singing abroad, Kirsten acted in several regional productions around the country. One of her favorite roles was Missy in the hilarious, fun show, The Marvelous Wonderettes. She also was a resident performer at the Miracle Theater in Pigeon Forge. Kirsten was the Swing for The Miracle, which consisted of six different leads to cover. Also at the Miracle Theater, she was one of Jacob’s wives in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Some of her other credits include The Sound of Music (Maria), Kiss Me Kate (Lois).

Kirsten has always loved to work with children and help them on their musical journey. In the last year, Kirsten was privileged to direct and choreograph the Kid’s Choir for Northridge Church’s, Glory of Christmas production. She has also directed a children’s production of The Aristocats with the Southgate Community Players.

Kirsten is thrilled to be a part of the team at Arts Detroit. Having known Adriane Galea for almost 20 years, it is truly incredible to see her studio grow and flourish. She is ecstatic to be able to inspire and teach the next generation of performers of Arts Detroit!

Sir Toby Belch

Director of Hospitality 

Toby has been with us since February 2017 and has excelled in his duties, never failing to put a smile on someone’s face. In addition to Toby’s professional duties, he excels in all areas of being a terrific pupper and particularly enjoys meeting new friends (of the furry or human variety), taking long naps, car rides, chomping on ice, and exploring the streets of Allen Park.
